Caged Sound, 2009-present
The sound scores I create are are based on system structures that rely on the predetermination of sound placement.  This rational placement of sound is predetermined by either the placement of marks on visual work when placed under a created grid system, or transcripts from text.  The text I use is primarily speeches, writings or "official statements" that deal with a variety of social and/or political issues. The text is transcribed, and then the sounds are assigned and then processed electronically using a variety of software applications. As a non-trained musician, this systematic approach has allowed me to create complicated and intricate sound scores on top of banal visual stimulation.
